KommAn 2022
In 2022, we further intensified our commitment to the integration of refugees and newly arrived people, particularly with a view to returning to in-person meetings after the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Through renovation work in our premises and the provision of new resources, we were able to create a wide range of offerings that meet the needs of our target group.
In spring, we started with a convivial barbecue evening, during which the children and young people were actively involved, taking on tasks and exchanging ideas in a relaxed atmosphere. At the Cooking Together, Eating Together event in April, participants also had the opportunity to contribute their own wishes and to cook together, learn table manners and talk about cultural differences in eating habits.
May was dedicated to board games and team games, which, in addition to play and fun, also offered space for discussion and exchange. In June, we went bowling with the young people, which not only brought a lot of joy but also fostered team spirit. In September, we organised a movie night with popcorn and nachos, after which the young people had the opportunity to exchange views about the content and their impressions.
A creative highlight was the art project in October, during which participants created their own works using craft kits, brushes and paints and presented them in a joint showcase. In doing so, topics that concerned the children and young people and encouraged reflection were also addressed.
These and many other activities helped our participants not only to expand their language skills but also to gain valuable social and intercultural experiences. The high willingness to participate and the positive response reinforce us in our commitment and motivate us to remain active in the future for the integration of refugees.
