Living diversity together – in Witten since 1997
Lernimpuls Witten e.V. is a migrant self-organisation (MSO) that was founded in 1997 with the goal of empowering and supporting people regardless of their origin, religion or worldview. What began as a small initiative is today a recognised provider of independent youth welfare services, an approved integration course provider and a member of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband NRW. We are also AZAV certified. QS ESK
Our Mission
We are committed to a peaceful, respectful coexistence in a diverse society. Our goal is to enable participation for children, young people and families, to nurture potential and to actively shape integration.
Our Core Areas
Among our central tasks is comprehensive learning support: in addition to tutoring, we offer free tutoring within the framework of the Education and Participation Package (BuT), cooperate with the Chancenstiftung and regularly organise holiday camps as well as special Abitur crash courses. Another focus is on language support. This includes integration and basic language courses, MiA courses („Migrant women simply strong in everyday life“) as well as targeted language programmes for children, young people and women.
In addition, we are involved in a wide variety of projects for children and young people. These include trips to memorial sites, international youth exchanges, democracy and empowerment projects, gender-related initiatives as well as projects on digitalisation and inclusion. Within the framework of the European Solidarity Corps (ESK), we also enable young people to gain international learning experiences.
For children from refugee families who do not yet have a kindergarten or day-care place, we offer daily care by experienced early childhood educators, thereby fostering early childhood development and integration.
We are also active in the field of professional continuing education: we provide individual counselling, accompany our participants throughout the entire learning process and support them in lifelong learning. Our offer is aimed at adults who wish to take on new professional challenges or expand their competencies – funded through education vouchers from the Federal Employment Agency or the Jobcenter, but also open to self-paying individuals and corporate clients.
Our Partners
We cooperate with a large number of institutions – including the City of Witten, the Municipal Integration Centre of the Ennepe-Ruhr district, state and federal ministries, schools, the Federal Employment Agency, parent networks and many more. This collaboration enables us to develop tailored offers and to reach as many people as possible.
Why We Matter
We believe that social cohesion and equal opportunities are not to be taken for granted, but must be actively shaped. That is why we are committed – with heart, competence and a strong network.
