„Strong Girls, Strong Society“
The „Strong Girls, Strong Society“ project was aimed at 20 girls aged 10 to 18, who were divided into two age groups (10-14 years and 15-18 years). At the beginning of the project, which took place from 01.07.2020 to 28.02.2021, the individual needs of each participant were determined through a situation analysis in order to create tailored learning plans and goals. Two meetings were held each week: one for homework help and learning support, and another with cultural and media-education activities. In these sessions, the girls received support in a relaxed atmosphere in order to master academic challenges. The second meeting offered creative and social activities, such as painting, acting in theatre, dancing and sports, which were specifically tailored to the girls' interests. During these activities, great importance was placed on fostering the girls' strengths and weaknesses, thereby giving them more self-confidence and self-assurance, so that, through the confidence they gained, they could be a strong part of our society. In addition, a 5-day summer camp with experiential-education programmes and a 3-day trip to Berlin were organised, during which workshops on the topic of gender and gender equality took place. Through regular conversations with parents, family support was strengthened, and the girls' development was closely accompanied. In total, the project comprised 48 sessions, which helped the girls improve their academic performance, develop their social skills and position themselves confidently in society. We would like to warmly thank the Landschaftsverband Westfalen Lippe (LWL), whose funding made it possible for us to carry out this valuable project.
