„My Witten, Helping Shape the Future“
As part of the project, which began with funding in May 2021, young people actively engaged with the topics of media production and political participation. After a preparatory phase, in which the participants got to know one another and received basic information about the goals and the course of the project, the workshops began in June 2021.
The first workshop served to introduce the young people to the subject areas of the right to one's own image and personality rights, and to familiarize them with the technical fundamentals of media production. This included, among other things, handling cameras, microphones and other equipment. In this workshop, the participants were given a solid foundation, both legally and technically, so that they could work independently over the further course of the project.
The subsequent workshops focused intensively on the design and dramaturgy of media projects. The young people developed ideas, created storyboards, planned filming sequences and put their concepts into practice in hands-on exercises. Particular importance was placed on teamwork, democratic decision-making and the promotion of communication and mutual acceptance – values that are indispensable for the project and for coexistence in society.
Between the regular workshops, two five-day intensive phases took place during the summer and autumn holidays, in which the young people worked directly on their projects. They shot videos, conducted interviews and put the skills they had learned into practice. In the final phase, the results of the project were presented in a large presentation.
The project's primary goal was to strengthen the participation of young people and to spark their interest in political decision-making processes. The young people shaped the project almost entirely on their own, which fostered their sense of responsibility, creativity and self-efficacy.
