„Strong Girls, Strong Society“
Between 15/06/2021 and 20/12/2021, we carried out an educational and empowerment programme for 20 girls from a variety of social backgrounds. The aim was to support the participants both in their academic performance and in developing their social, digital and cultural skills.

The programme consisted of two weekly meetings. The first meeting was dedicated to homework help and learning support. Under the guidance of specialists and volunteer helpers, the girls were given the opportunity, in a relaxed atmosphere, to complete their homework and to catch up specifically in subjects in which they showed weaknesses. Particular emphasis was placed on fostering self-confidence and on removing fears.
The second meeting was intended for creative and social group activities. The girls engaged with topics such as femininity, society and their own role within it. They were able to discover their talents in various areas – whether building with wood, painting, dancing or as part of theatre projects. In doing so, not only their practical skills were fostered, but also their ability to work as a team and their personal expressiveness.
Another important component of the programme was strengthening the girls' digital skills. In particular, by developing media literacy and engaging with digital tools, deficits in the use of technology were addressed. In addition, regular parent discussions were held in order to involve the families and to work together on supporting the girls.
To conclude the programme, the girls themselves planned a three-day workshop in which they presented their experiences and results. Alongside the academic support, a particular focus was placed on strengthening self-esteem, career orientation and the development of social skills. The programme helped the participants to recognise their own future prospects and to actively take charge of them. We would like to sincerely thank the Landschaftsverband Westfalen Lippe (LWL), whose funding made it possible for us to carry out this valuable project.
