„Pixel Pioneers – Design Your Own Creative Website“
As part of a 20-week project, a website was developed that gave young migrants and refugees the opportunity to learn digital skills and create their own web pages. The project was carried out in collaboration with two experienced web developers and volunteer staff who had migration or refugee experiences themselves. This constellation enabled the participants to overcome language barriers and to work in a supportive atmosphere as equals.
The Benefits of Lifelong Learning: Exploring the Advantages of Continuous Education and Personal Development Throughout Life
The participants, each working on their own laptop, were introduced to consecutive modules that conveyed both theoretical and practical content. At the beginning, the basics of the internet, internet security, and the handling of digital media were explained. As the course progressed, the participants learned to install WordPress, create content, design pages, and implement design aspects. In addition, they were introduced to the use of plugins, user management, and search engine optimization.
An important component of the project was training in the use of AI tools, which were brought closer to the participants both theoretically and practically. It is particularly noteworthy that the project not only conveyed technical skills but also served as a means of integration and as a way to process refugee experiences. The participants were encouraged to actively apply what they had learned and to pass on their new abilities as multipliers.
The close supervision by the project management and the support from volunteer helpers ensured that the individual needs of the participants were taken into account and that everyone could learn at their own pace. The project helped to spark interest in the digital world and to open up new professional perspectives and job potential for the young people.
