„Everyone Deserves the Same Chance“ – Application Training

In our project, which took place from 15.05.2021 to 20.12.2021, we offered young people with a migration background the opportunity to intensively prepare for the German labour market and to strengthen their application skills. Over several months, the participants took part in workshops, practical excursions and shared leisure activities that advanced them not only professionally but also personally. At the beginning, in a kick-off event, the individual level of each participant was assessed and the groups were divided according to their needs and expectations. In the subsequent workshops, key topics such as the German vocational training market, application systems and the preparation of application documents were addressed. The young people learned how to find a suitable training occupation, write applications correctly and conduct job interviews successfully. Through hands-on exercises, including the simulation of job interviews, the participants were able to apply their knowledge directly.

The theoretical content was complemented by excursions to a training centre, a company and the employment office, where the young people gained valuable insights into the world of work and the application process. In addition to the professional support, team building was not neglected either. During shared leisure activities such as a barbecue evening, a trip to an amusement park and adventure-based educational events, the sense of community was strengthened and the participants' self-confidence was fostered.

The aim of the project was not only to provide the young people with the necessary knowledge and skills for a successful application, but also to enable them to help others as multipliers and to pass on their knowledge. In this way, the participants not only improved their chances on the German labour market, but also developed social skills and strengthened self-confidence. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Landschaftsverband Westfalen Lippe (LWL), whose funding made the implementation of this valuable project possible.
